I saw one of these used in a picture of a cute bento box lunch, but obviously her boxes were deeper than mine. The diameter of the opening where the carrot comes apart for filling is a tad over 2" and my boxes are a bit under. I can get them in a couple of the bigger boxes with pressure, but I'm not sure that's good for the box or the carrot. Still that was not the intended purpose of these little fillable carrots. It seemed the perfect solution for adding some crackers to a box to keep them crisp, or mini marshmallows to keep them dry. The box where I saw the carrot used had grated cheese in it to be spread on a make-yourself mini pizza. I'm newly into the bento box lunch concept and looking for little containers to suit different purposes. While they won't fit in the boxes I have, they would fit fine in standard lunch boxes. So, since I have 18 of these things, I've been thinking of other uses and the more I think, the more I discover possibilities and have ended up pleased with my purchase.Because the mouth is as big as it is, unexpected things can be accommodated such as a cute mini toy. The container stays together well with a snug fit, but would still be easy for a child to open. Because it has a flat bottom, it could be filled with some treats and set at a child's place at the Easter dinner table as well as added to an Easter basket, but that's the obvious use. My granddaughter has several craft kits with millions of tiny pieces. Because these containers keep their lids on quite well, they'll be perfect to store her beads and sequins, lengths of ribbons and stick on jewels, as well as miniature dishware and other tiny treasures from her doll houses and also the mini accessories from my grandson's lego sets. The carrot can sit as easily on its top as on the flattened bottom. Just the lid alone sitting on the green 'stem' makes a darling punch bowl or salad bowl for a doll party. The green top can be pried off leaving a plain orange peg top. Now it can be used to hold Halloween treats. Isn't it perfect for a hoard of candy corn or jelly beans? If you decorate it with a sharpee, the ink doesn't come off to soil little hands. It makes a cute jack-o-lantern.So in the end I'll get my money's worth even though it doesn't fill my original need. One is currently holding paper clips in my desk drawer and another is holding Q-tips in the bathroom. A third is holding my little bento food picks and another the tiny sauce bottles to be used for soy sauce. I'm moving a set to my sewing drawer for buttons, pins and other small accessories. The more I think about it the more places these little holders come in handy.
